WEEKEND IN REVIEW: THE GOOD AND THE BAD

The Good:

- Friday night, the boys (my husband, both of my brother-in-law's and my brother) went to the Dodger Game as the girls (and boys...my mom, both of my sisters, my niece, 2 of my nephews and myself) went shopping. I bought a few things for myself which is always a treat. But best of all, the hubby told me that they all had fun at the game. Pictures of that to come soon.

- On Saturday, Gerric and I didn't have any plans after all since they fell through so we saw a lot of the Live Earth concert which was pretty good. I enjoyed a lot of the performances and it was put on for a great cause.

- On Sunday, Gerric and I attended our very first open house. It wasn't planned by any means. We stopped by Emma and Henry's house and they weren't home yet so we saw that the house across the street was holding an open house so we went. I fell in LOVE with the house! It would be a perfect first home. We wouldn't have to do much to it at all since it's in great shape and beautiful overall...but alas, a little over our budget of course. But then again, we're not even sure what our budget is! It was still nice imagining ourselves owning our own home. I think we're getting more serious about buying but we have yet to find something we can actually afford!

- Today is Henry's last radiation treatment! Thank you God and everyone for your support and prayers. The first obstacle is over. His MRI will be on the 25th of this month so please think good thoughts for him every day, but especially that day for good results.

The Bad:

- On Saturday morning when I woke up, my husband told me that his friend Dean had sent a number of people an e-mail in regards to his nephew, Baby Preston. Dean and his entire family were good friends of Gerric's family growing up. They have always been extremely warm and welcoming to me, which is why this story is especially heartbreaking. Dean's younger sister, Mariclare and her husband Paul, have a baby boy that has just been diagnosed with a rare disease called, Sandhoff disease. The outlook is not good but what is most frustrating is that since it's so rare, Preston's parents are looking for answers on what to do and how to proceed. If there is anyone out there that has experienced this horrible disease, please don't hesitate to e-mail me at jolene_tetangco@yahoo.com so that I can lead Preston's parents in the right direction. I feel it's the least I can do since I feel so incredibly helpless right now. To learn more about Preston and the disease, visit his website here.

While I am really happy you had a great weekend, I hate when you have Good and Bad news to post...I'm sorry to hear about your friend's nephew. Good luck on the house purchase! When Rob bought his condo, I was overwhelmed with all of it, but of course, it's a great investment. Maybe you can start with a condo... Fingers are crossed for Henry.

So sorry to hear about the baby. Wish I had more than words to offer.

BUT, so happy about Henry's last radiation treatment! Wonderful. And glad that you and Gerric had a good weekend overall.

I loved going to open houses when John and I were house-hunting. It's addictive.

Jo,

I linked on the Sandhoff info under "the parents point of view" and it is so sad and that you don't know if your baby has it until a little later and what the babies have to go through, like they don't even cry anymore at 1. I am so sad.
