I can’t believe we’re only 4 months away from your first birthday! How can that be?! You continue to amaze us with your personality every day and life with you could not be more fun right now!
This month’s highlights include:
- You love your purees and I am proud to say that I have made every single one that you’ve tried to date! I stay up late on the weekends after you’ve gone to sleep to make all your food. I’m still having fun with it and I plan to continue doing it for as long as I can. This month you’ve tried avocados, zucchini, peaches, blueberries, spinach, apricots, mango, cauliflower and broccoli. You finally tasted something you didn’t like at all…avocado! Who knew?! We will give it a try again soon but for now, we’re staying away from that one since it’s the only food that made you throw up. I felt so bad. Your second least favorite is spinach. You’ll eat that one but I can tell it’s not something you fully enjoy.
- This month was the first time mommy got sick since you’ve been born. I got a horrible cold and it lasted a little over 2 weeks! I was praying that I wouldn’t give it to you and thankfully, I avoided getting you sick. I was so grateful! Because I was sick, I gave you the last of my frozen breast milk. I was sad but thankful that I still had some at all to give you.
- We’re still working on having you sit up. What’s funny is, you refuse to do it on a regular basis because you push yourself back or fall over to the side when we practice at home yet when we take you to Gymboree and you see all your little friends doing it, you manage to sit down on your own for about 45 minutes! It’s funny now but your daddy and I can already tell you’re going to be a stubborn little thing. :)
- You’ve started to really show signs that you’re getting ready to crawl. You are doing the “army crawl” on your tummy and it’s the cutest thing. If you want something that’s out of your reach, that’s how you’ll get to it. Nothing can stop you now.
- My sweet baby girl has 6 teeth now! Your 7th one looks like it's sprouting soon too! Six teeth at 8 months…sigh. You’re growing too fast. Next thing you know you’ll be Bianca’s age! I can’t handle that just yet. Slow it down a little sweetheart.
- This month you have become quite the screamer. You daddy and I love it but we also realize it may not be so cute out in public where other people are trying to have some peace and quiet. So we choose our outings carefully and try to keep your screaming to a minimum before we coax you into taking your paci. I hate having to give it to you outside of nap time or going down for the night but it’s the only thing that will stop you from screaming. You just get SO excited and scream all the time. It’s so cute to see you get so excited! Luckily, you haven’t done it at all during church but I’m waiting for the day where I will have to slip out through the back during mass. Hopefully, it will never happen.
- You have been rolling all over the place in your crib throughout the night that I was certain you were bumping your head on the railings so with your pediatrician’s consent, your crib now has a bumper. I was so paranoid the first few days but you’ve been ok and I know you are big enough now to know to move your little head if you can’t breathe. I’m still checking you throughout the night but I know in my heart you’ll be just fine.
- We celebrated your daddy’s 1st Father’s Day this month. It was nice. We went to church, visited the Arevalo’s knowing it was their 1st Father’s Day without your Tio Henry :( and just relaxed as a family the rest of the day. I think your daddy had a great time. Anytime you’re there with us we have a great time.
- This past Saturday was our 1st night out without you. Our 1st night out in over 8 months! I was too stubborn to do it before and I just wanted to soak up all my time with you. My co-worker got married and there were no kids allowed. The good news is it was in Long Beach so we weren't far away. B came over to babysit you and you two had a great time together. She loves you so much and she took such great care of you. It was hard for mommy and daddy to be out without you but I know it was good for both of us and for you to take this big step after 8 months. Maybe breaking the ice will get your daddy and I to go out as a couple every once in a while. We’ll see. :) I know there is no lack of willing baby sitters, that’s for sure!
- At the end of next month we are baptizing you. It's something I get so emotional about whenever I think of it. I can't wait to see you in your white little gown. When your daddy and I were thinking of who to baptize you, we knew we couldn't go wrong with Peter and Celina. They have been such great friends to us and we know they will love you as much as they love their own children. They are flying here just weeks after Celina gave birth to their 3rd blessing...a beautiful baby girl. Peter and your daddy also text almost every day and with Facetime, we know you'll be able to see and hear from your godparents anytime you want to, despite them living in Texas. :) We couldn't be happier with our decision and we can't wait until they are officially your godparents.
Another month gone by my love. Each month it becomes harder to express just how much we love you. We are having so much fun with you. Happy 8 month birthday my little sweet pea. We adore you to pieces.
