WEEKEND REWIND

I had a very delightful weekend!

Friday

My husband picked me up from work. We decided to carpool that day and he had beautiful flowers waiting for me in his car. Like I've said before, I never get tired of receiving flowers, especially when they're "just because."

On the way home, we headed straight to Long Beach and had dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, Open Sesame. There is always a very long wait but since we beat most of the dinner crowd, we only had a 10-15 minute wait. It was delicious! After dinner, we stopped next door at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory to pick up some truffles for the 5-year wedding anniversary party we were going to on Saturday night. The invitation we received noted "no gifts" but we didn't want to show up empty-handed and thought some milk chocolate truffles would be a nice gesture! Then we made a quick trip to Trader Joe's and picked up a few things there. We finally headed home after that.

Saturday

I woke up bright and early to take Leila to her very first groomer's appt! I had offered to take her since I thought my sister would appreciate staying home with Henry. I hope she had a good time but the end result was so good. She looked precious! They put little pink bows on her! Who could not fall in love with this face:

After that, my nephew Andrew came back with me and my husband took us bike riding in Long Beach. It had been a while since I took Lulu out for a ride. We rode our bikes from Belmont Shores all the way to the Shoreline Village. It was a perfect day for a bike ride, despite the overcast skies. I realized I never posted pictures of Gerric's bike. So, for everyone to see, here is "El Gigante" in all his glory:

We had such a good time. I'm sure we'll be back there again soon.

After our bike ride, we got ready to go to a 5-year wedding anniversary party we were invited to in Laguna Niguel. It was an intimate gathering with good food and great company. Since we drove by Irvine on the way home, my husband and I decided to have a date at Irvine Spectrum since we hadn't been there in years! We had a great time and came out with a funny story. While we were fighting to walk through the crowd, my husband suddenly gets stopped by this guy. This is how the conversation went:

Strange Guy: (hits my husband on the shoulder and says "Hey Gerric!"

Husband: (looking very confused and thinking he heard him say Gerric, smiles)

SG: "It's me, Jim!"

Husband: (looks even more confused but shakes his hand anyway) "Jim?"

SG: "Oh man you look exactly like my buddy Derek. How funny. And your name is Derek too?"

Husband: No, it's Gerric!

SG with female companion: "well, it was nice to meet you."

Haha! Funny story.

Sunday

Woke up, went to 10:30 mass, went to go get my car washed (not knowing it was going to sprinkle yesterday evening *grunt!*, then went to the cemetary to go visit my baby nephew and Gerric's mom. We stopped by the the flower shop before and I wanted something "different" for my nephew so I chose something and had the flower designer make me an arrangement inside of it. I was happy with the results and I have a feeling my nephew liked it too. :)

After that, we stopped by to get some pies at Polly's and dropped one off for Emma, Henry and the kids. We stayed there for a while before we headed home again. The rest of the day was a lazy one. We watched Keeping the Faith and then lounged around the rest of the day before getting ready for another work week.

I have a very busy week ahead of me so I'm already ready for this weekend! Happy Monday everyone!

Thanks for the nomination! I don't feel very rockin' lately, but your kind words and great comments are always an ego-boost.

I had been wondering about Lulu . . . glad you got out for a ride and had such a lovely weekend.

That arrangement for your nephew was so sweet. You are so thoughtful.
