WEEKEND RECAP

It's Sunday night...but at least it's a short week! Yipee!!!

Friday

My husband and I carpooled to work on Friday so after he picked me up, we headed to his barber shop to have his hair cut. It was a quick trip since there was no wait. Believe it or not, it was actually my very first trip to a barber shop. It's so different from the salon I go to. This barber shop had a few chairs in it, smelled kind of funny and there's a bunch of men that are walking in and out to get their hairs cut. I'm used to very girly salons where candles are lit, there are In Style magazines to read and you're offered water or espresso while you're waiting. But nonetheless, it was quite an experience and a HUGE difference in price. While my husband took out a $10 bill to pay for his cut, I pay 20 times as much!

After his haircut, we grabbed some fast food for dinner and relaxed at home. We even started watching Borat since I had never seen it and Gerric borrwed it. There were definitely some funny scenes but I'm glad I didn't spend money to go see it in the theater.

Saturday

We laid around most of the day. I finally got ready and went to go get an overdue pedicure. During the week, I had given Gerric a mission. I suddenly had a craving for pumkin ravioli. I told him that his mission was to find a resturant that served this dish in our area and we would go have dinner there on Saturday night. Sure enough, my dear husband delivered. So on Saturday night, we enjoyed a delicious dinner at Ferraro's Cucina Italiana. I didn't want to spend our evening at an expensive restaurant so this fit the bill perfectly.

My pumpkin ravioli was delicious and Gerric enjoyed his salmon spinach ravioli just as much. My craving was definitely fed....

For dessert, I wanted something light and fresh. I went with the pineapple sorbet, which amazing came served inside a real pineapple. It was delicious!!!!

After our delicious dinner, we walked around for a bit then headed home. I think it might have been the wine we had during dinner but we were both SO exhausted! As soon as we got home, we kicked off out shoes and fell asleep on the couch! I guess we're really getting old. :( Nonetheless, it was a wonderful evening.

Sunday

After going to church, we went to the mall to buy a gift. We are heading to Antioch, CA (up north) for a birthday party. One of Gerric's best friends lives up there and his little girl is turning one! So we're going there the day after Thanksgiving to share in her celebration. Gerric is not one to ever spend money on himself so it was a surprise to see him buy himself not one, but two pairs of shoes! He was a happy camper. Then we headed over to Pier One since I have the decorating bug and I wanted to buy some holiday things for our apartment. I didn't end up buying a whole lot but we'll see how it all turns out once I put up the decorations for the holidays. I wondered if I would even decorate this year being that it's been so rough but I told myself that in order to truly show that I'm thankful for all that we've been given, I need to keep up with the holiday traditions and putting up decorations is one of them.

After we came home, I was relaxing on our couch and reading a magazine when the doorbell rang. It was my sister Emma, Henry, and their kids Bianca and Andrew. They came bearing gifts! Andrew was carrying a most beautiful centerpiece. It was gift from all of them. Along with it, my sister handed me a card. In it, she wrote how thankful she was for all that that we had done for them this year. They were beautiful words and they made me cry. It was beautiful. They stayed for a little while and were on their way. I put my centerpiece up already and even with just that and the other little pieces I have up, our apartment is starting to look like Holiday Central. I love it!

Now it's Sunday night and we're just relazing, getting ready to watch the American Music Awards. It's weird blogging on a Sunday night but no more blogging from work for me...at least until this "no Internet rule" dies down. :)

they also stopped by our place to drop off the centerpiece too.. that was very sweet of them.. They didn't have to. seeing Henry getting better is the only way we can see everybodies hard work has paid off.

Hey I have to try that Good Fellas barber, it's right down the street from me! $10 is cheap, like Gerric I have to get the "affordable" haircuts so Marlene can go to the "Salon", but you girls are so worth it!

I agree w/ you about Borat. Funny for a rental, but not worth the $$ for a date night.

That pineapple sorbet looks awesome!

...and I was surprised the first time I went into a barber shop too.
