WEEKEND CATCH UP

The last two weeks have flown by. I was out sick for 2 days last week...my tummy seems to be angry at me again but I have an appointment with a GI doctor on Friday to hopefully help me figure out what is wrong with me. Other than my tummy, things have been good and we've been kept very busy.

I've been very stressed and very busy at work...so busy that for a whole week, my eating habits weren't the best and I was not eating all day. Maybe that's what flared up my stomach issues again, who knows. But it was so nice coming home to these one day since my husband knew what I was going through at work:

Last Saturday, my sister had a surprise birthday party for her husband's 40th. It was a great turnout and the best part was, the birthday boy was truly surprised. We had a great time and he got to see a lot of old friends that he's known for years. If you want to read about the details, you can read all about it here. Yes, after lurking on many of my favorite blogs, my sister has started her very own blog. So if you can, please stop by and show her a little love. :)

Last Sunday, after church, we visited Gerric's grandparents. His grandfather has been living in a rehab facility ever since he had surgery on his stomach over 2 years ago. Gerric's grandmother was living in the Phillippines but as Gerric's aunt and family decided to come and live in the United States, they were able to bring Gerric's grandmother with them. So his aunt's job is to stay home and care for her. His grandparents were finally able to reunite and live together under the same roof...it's a really sweet story. So we decided to go visit them and the rest of his family last Sunday. It was nice seeing them since we don't get to see them very often.

My niece is turning 15 on October 11th. In true Hispanic tradition, she'll be having a Quinceanera on this day. There's a lot of preparation involved and I'm doing what I can to help them too. My niece really wanted to have a candy buffet as part of her day so I'm helping to take care of that. Gosh, who knew candy could be so expensive?!? I've gotten the candy in various places, doing the best that I can to conserve costs but for the candy that my niece specifically requested, I was only able to find it online. So my husband and I trekked all the way to the city of Irwindale and paid a little visit to Candy Warehouse to pick up the candy I had ordered a few weeks ago. Their "lobby" area is full of candy and they tell their customers that they're allowed to take some samples home. :) It was a lot of fun but we didn't go crazy. I'll be sure to let you know how this candy buffet turns out as October 11th is just around the corner!

This weekend we managed to keep busy again. Yesterday was my husband's company picnic. They give everyone in the company, along with each family member, a ticket to Disneyland! With the ticket, they give everyone free parking and $15 each in Disney money. It's a lot of fun so we were excited to take part in it. My niece and nephew also joined us. We had a great time! We arrived at 12:30 and didn't leave the park until close to 11pm. It was a loooong day and my feet were certainly paying for it. Luckily, my husband and I finally got our annual passes so we are looking forward to spending more time at the Happiest Place on Earth for the next year.

Today we just caught up on our sleep after yesterday's exhausting day and ran some errands.

Looking forward to a good work week (hopefully one that flies by)...Have a great week everyone!

Cool about the annual passes! We were there this Saturday too. Maybe we'll run into each other one of these days.

I hope you start feeling better soon. I bet it has something to do with you not eating.

Wow - you're a busy little bee! I'm glad to hear all is going well... though I hope your tummy is OK and your workload slows down some.

There's always something in life, isn't there?
