WEEKEND RECAP: BOWLING & MUCHO

For once, I'm actually posting about my weekend before the weekend is actually over!

Friday
We had plans Friday night to celebrate (let's see if you can follow this)...Gerric's cousin's boyfriend's birthday (did that even make sense?). We met up at the new Anaheim Garden Walk and went to 300 Anaheim, the new hip and trendy bowling alley. I wasn't up for bowling since I wasn't feeling so hot that night but it was still fun to watch everyone else! The place was very slow since a lot of people still don't know about it so it was nice to avoid the long waits and the long lines. It's a bit pricey compared to other bowling alleys but the DJ spinning music all night was great! We had a great time. I walked around for a bit with my sister-in-law and most places were closed already but I'd like to go back since it looks like a great place to do some shopping.

Saturday
I ran errands during the day including dropping off my nephew's birthday present. He was celebrating his 9th birthday that night but since I had already made other commitments before I knew of his party, we weren't able to go.

It had been about 6 months since I'd seen my girlfriend Gema. She and I have known each other since I was 16 (I celebrated my 30th birthday back in March, which is the last time I saw her) and she is one of my nearest and dearest friends. Since March, she got engaged, married her soulmate in an intimate ceremony in Cozumel, Mexico and had an at-home wedding reception in July. Since Gerric and I were out of town that weekend, we weren't able to celebrate with them. So when she invited us to celebrate her birthday, we knew we had to go. The plan was to meet at their house in Redondo Beach to have a drink, then head out to Mucho for our 7:30 reservations. Dinner was delicious and the service was great despite having a packed house that night. I opted for the chicken enchilada and carne asada taco plate...so yummy!

Gema & her husband Bill at dinner

After dinner, we headed back to their place to have dessert. Bill had picked up Crumbs cupcakes for all of us. I had 1/2 of the red velvet with creamcheese frosting - it was quite delicious! it was great catching up with Gema and my other girlfriend Jamie...nothing like a fun night out with some good friends.

Sunday

Got a late start and went to church at noon. We went to the cemetary after that to visit my baby nephew and Gerric's mom (it was 18 years since she passed on Friday). After that, we had lunch at one of our favorite Thai restaurants. Then we headed out to Home Depot and finally bought the patio furniture set we'd been eyeing! It was a deal we couldn't pass up. I'll be sure to post pictures as soon as we set it up.

During our lunch, I got a very exciting text. Maybe I shouldn't be the one to post the news, but I just can't help it! She'll post the details anyway. My text message read:

"Raffaella middle name, last name born on 9-6-08. 7 lbs 10oz. Mom and baby are doing fine."

I am SO excited! I hope to see them both on Wednesday and I'll be sure to post pictures. I can't wait to meet her!

So that was my weekend. Hope to have a good week ahead of me. Until the next time...
