Abbie - 2 years

Dearest Abigail ,

This letter is long overdue. I’ve been meaning to write it for months now but a little something called your baby sister sort of took over our lives. I apologize sweetie. You are now 26 months, going on 13 years. My goodness…you can’t pay for a personality like yours. You keep your daddy and me laughing all day, every day and when you’re not, you’re testing your limits with us to see what you can get away with. Your daddy and I joke that between you and your sister, we’re going to lose our hair early. I have so much fun having conversations with you every day. You are curious about EVERYTHING and repeat everything you hear. I love watching you play. You amaze me each and every day Abbie. At the same time, you drive me crazy each and every day. The terrible two’s are no joke. You are teaching me to have so much patience little girl but I’d be lying if I told you I didn’t completely lose my patience on some days. I have to admit that dealing with lack of sleep has me very short-tempered and with a short fuse with you. And the fact that for a short while, you regressed from being potty trained and sleeping through the night didn’t help either. But the past few days have been a lot better and you seem to be back to yourself again.
The absolutely best part of seeing you grow is seeing you as a big sister. You love your sister so much Abbie. You couldn’t be any sweeter with her and my heart beams at the thought of seeing you two finally play together soon. You are so loving with her, so much so that sometimes we need to make sure you don’t smother her too much or else you’ll hurt her! The best gift we could have ever given you is a sister my sweet Abbie. We are so blessed with our two little girls.

These days you are still into everything Disney (Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Doc McStuffins, Sofia the First), you love books and if we let you, you’d be on the Ipad all day long watching You Tube videos of  toy demonstrations. You are my long and lean sweet pea and you can eat pasta, sopita, bananas, fruit and veggie pouches and PB&J sandwiches every day.  You’ll do anything to avoid going to bed each night but for the most part, once I start saying our prayers, you always put your head on my chest and know it’s time to go to sleep. You love being tickled by mommy and love horsing around with your daddy. We adore you Abbie. I am trying to cherish each and every day I have at home with you. But I know when it’s time for me to go back to work, you will transition just fine. You still LOVE going to Mom and Abuelo’s house and you love it when anyone visits you here at home. We look forward to seeing you grow. As your daddy would say…you.are.awesome. We love you so much sugar plum. Life couldn’t get any sweeter with you.
