20 months down...

Dear Abbie,

Oh sweetpea…you turned 20 months old on June 27th. Twenty. In just 4 short months, we will be celebrating your 2nd birthday. You’re going to be 2 Abbie! You are so my big girl now. It seems that every stage has just gotten better and better with you. Your daddy and I are incredibly in love with you and there is not one day that goes by where we don’t thank God for what we have. We realize we are incredibly blessed with your life. And somehow, He trusts us enough to have blessed us yet again. Yes my sweet little girl, in March, we found out you were going to become a big sister. We are so excited to see you grow up alongside a sibling and we are also excited to see our little family of three become a family of four. Mommy’s 1st trimester wasn’t as easy as it was with you. There were 6 weeks where I thanked God every single day that I had your daddy there with me. He did everything I couldn’t manage to do which was hard for me since I loved our daily routine but I think it really gave you and daddy some bonding time which I absolutely love.  Now, mommy is 5  1/2 months pregnant and feeling great...at least most of the time. We know we are going to be having another baby girl which we couldn’t be more excited about! Seeing you become best friends with a little sister melts my heart and brings tears to my eyes. We can’t wait to see you as a big sister Abigail. You’re going to be the best! Daddy’s heart is going to explode seeing his two little girls together.

Your vocabulary is becoming more extensive by the day. You repeat everything you hear and I’m sure that in no time, you will start speaking in sentences. Oh my heart won’t be able to handle having an entire conversation with you! With your vocabulary growing, you have also begun saying “No” when you don’t want something. It definitely helps us to know this but sometimes, it can also get very frustrating when say, we’re trying to feed you vegetables. Oh Abbie…you certainly love the word “no.” We are currently working on having you say “YES” more often. J

My sweet girl, you have also started feeding yourself with a fork and a spoon. Well, that came a couple months ago but you've become quite good at it now. It’s the cutest thing to watch. We are so proud of you honey. In fact, you want to be so independent that having mommy or daddy feed you anything ourselves is nearly impossible. You want to do everything yourself. I love that independence about you.

You finally say your name! You proudly pat your chest and say “Abbie.” Yet every time I ask you what your name is, you say “Nette.” Your daddy and I like to think it’s your late grandmother’s way of speaking to you since your middle name was after her. J

You are still obsessed with Minnie Mouse. Although your obsession has extended to the entire Mickey Mouse Club…Daisy, Goofy (Gooshu to you), Pluto (Puko), Donald (Duck) and of course Mickey. It’s so wonderful to see your eyes light up with excitement whenever you see any of them. Alongside that, you are also completely obsessed with airplanes. You can always spot the tiniest speck of an airline in the sky no matter where we are. Daddy and I need to take you to see them take off and land soon.

Mommy went on her second business trip since you’ve been born. I’m extremely lucky that it’s only been two. I was gone to Mexico City for a week. It was harder this time around since you understand more of what’s around you. We both cried when I left and Mom tells me that you really missed me this time…you’d wake up from your naps crying and would call for me each time. Oh baby girl, I’m sure it’s nothing compared to how much I missed you. Luckily, we had Facetime each night which helped heal my soul and we made it through the entire week.
Our next milestone? Getting you potty trained! It’s about that time baby girl. I am proud to say that you have gone in your potty a few times with me and Mom but we still have a long way to go before you’re officially potty trained. Mommy plans to really prioritize this soon. I am sure we will conquer it quickly together.

We can’t wait to see what the coming months have in store for you. we always ask that you are surrounded by love and happiness. Happy 20 months my little girl. We love you with all that we are.
